Privacy
Skoolskill is used by students, often young ones. This page says plainly what we hold, why we hold it, and how to make it go away.
Last updated 24 August 2026.
What we collect
- Your account — name, email address, and the school year or birth year if you give it.
- Your study material — the notes you type, the pages you photograph, the files you upload and the links you paste, plus everything generated from them: flashcards, questions and tutor lessons.
- Your progress — answers, scores, streaks, XP, coins and which topics you find hard. This is what makes the app work at all.
- Technical records — IP address, browser and device type, and error reports, kept to keep the service up and to stop abuse.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
- We do not use your notes to train anybody's general-purpose AI model.
- We do not read your notes except where you ask us to act on them, or where we have to look at a specific item to fix a fault you reported.
Cookies
Every cookie here is set by Skoolskill itself. There is no advertising cookie, no analytics company and no social widget reading along.
- Staying signed in — the session cookie. JavaScript cannot read it and it is only ever sent back to us.
- Your language — remembers the language you picked, so you do not land in English again tomorrow. Kept for a year.
- An invite you followed — if you arrive through a friend's link, the code rides along for 90 days so they get credited when you sign up.
- Counting visits — a random number, kept for six months, that lets us count a returning visitor once instead of twice. It is not tied to your name, your IP address or anything about your device.
The first three are what makes the site work. Counting visits is the only one you are asked about: choose “Only essential” in the banner and that cookie is never created — the server refuses to make it. Your answer is itself remembered in a cookie for a year, and clearing this site's cookies in your browser brings the banner back so you can change it.
Where your material goes
When you scan a page, its text is sent to the AI model that writes your flashcards, questions and lessons. Skoolskill runs that model on its own infrastructure rather than posting your material to a third-party AI API.
Uploaded files are stored in our own object storage, reachable only through the app once you are signed in. A file is never served to the browser directly from storage.
Who else is involved
These companies process some data on our behalf:
- Stripe and Mollie — payments. They receive your billing details; we never see or store your card number.
- Our email provider — sign-in links, verification and the reminders you switch on.
- Error and analytics tooling — aggregate usage and crash reports, so we can find faults.
- A transcript provider — only when you paste a video link and ask us to fetch its transcript.
How long we keep it
Your account and study material stay until you delete them or close your account. Anything you try on the homepage before signing up is deleted within 24 hours. Deleting a note removes its cards and questions with it; your past answers are kept as anonymous history so your progress chart does not develop holes.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it and your account. Write to us and we will act within 30 days. If you are in the EU or UK and think we have got it wrong, you can complain to your national data protection authority.
Children
Skoolskill is built for school students. Where the law requires a parent or guardian to agree before a child uses a service like this, that consent is required here too. A parent or guardian can contact us to see or delete their child's data.
